Do you sometimes struggle...
...with finding the right words to say to comfort the people you care about?
...with assessing your capacity to properly hold space for someone else?
...with effectively communicating your capacity?
...with compromising your self-care to care for someone else?
If you answered yes to any of the above, embrace this toolkit as your new compassionate care guide. 😉
In it you will find sample responses to help you express your willingness and ability to show up for the people you wish to hold space for, while also honoring and protecting your capacity to show up for yourself as you offer your help.
You will also find emotional support codes you can adapt and adopt to help you articulate how you and your loved ones feel and what you need at each different emotional stage.
The language utilized in the response suggestions included in this guide stem from restorative practices rooted in restorative and transformative justice because I believe intentional, thoughtful communication is incredibly beneficial to developing right relationships with the people we care for. And since community care is directly connected to self-care, I hope the exercises from this toolkit work to strengthen all of our kindred ties both internally and interpersonal.
